be-aitadaliyon se subuk sab mein ham hue
jitne ziyada ho gaye utne hi kam hue

pinhan tha dam sakht qarib ashiyan k
urne na paye the k giraftar ham hue

hasti hamari apni fana par dalil hai
yan tak mite k ap ham apni qasam hue

sakhtikashan-e-ishq ki puche hai kya khabar
wo log rafta-rafta sarapa alam hue

teri wafa se kya ho talafi ki dahar mein
tere siwa bhi ham pe bahut se sitam hue

likhte rahe junun ki hikayat-e-khunchakan
harchand is mein hath hamare qalam hue

Allah re! teri tundi-e-khu jis k bim se
azza-e-nala dil mein mere rizqe-ham hue

ahal-e-hawas ki fatah hai tark-e-nabard-e-ishq
jo panw uth gaye wo hi un k alam hue

nal-e-adam mein chand hamare supurd the
jo wan na khinch sake so wo yan aa k dam hue

chori 'Asad' na ham ne gadai mein dillagi
sail hue to ashiq-e-ahal-e-karam hue
